LOS ANGELES, United States — From crop tops to logo shirts, slouchy suits to off-the-shoulder tops, many of the trends that dominated late 1980s and 1990s fashion are back on the runways. Now one of the most memorable styles of the period is returning on the occasion of its 30th anniversary: Z Cavaricci cat-eye pants, known for their high-waisted, pleated, tapered and ankle-length design with multiple belt loops.

The distinctive pants were a hit when they debuted in 1987, exemplifying the excess of the era, and quickly became a must-have for a generation of young people.

Now James Cavaricci, who founded the brand in 1982 in Los Angeles, is hoping a new generation will embrace the oversized look. He is self-funding the brand’s revival with a limited edition anniversary collection of 500 women’s pieces. Priced from $225 to $245 and available in fine line twill and Japanese denim, the pants will be available exclusively online.

“I'm pretty confident that these will become collectibles immediately and we're really very excited to launch them,” Cavaricci told BoF. “We already have plans in the works to expand the line into a men's and women's brand, bringing Z Cavaricci to a new audience which I hear is already called Generation Z.”
